ÉëÒ÷Ö®Íõ

Care experienced students

The HE Guidance Officers in the Transitions Team are ÉëÒ÷Ö®Íõ's designated contacts for offering additional support to care leavers. However, we also want to offer enhanced support to students who do not meet the strict definition of a care leaver.

Some events may have happened while you were still very young, or you may not have all the dates available. If you are not sure whether you might be a care leaver, Coramvoice.org.uk have a useful checker that you can use to find out.

We accept that experience of being in care, in any circumstance, can have long-term effects. Our team is experienced in supporting care leavers, estranged students and students in financial difficulty. Do make contact with the Transitions Team before or after your arrival, so that we can explain what support is available. Even if you initially do not need any extra help, it is good to be clear for the future.

You can contact Melissa Page or Louise Wells by email at transitions@dmu.ac.uk or telephone (0116) 257 7872/(0116) 366 4456.
